An Exciting New Season

This month has served as such a reminder to me about why I do what I do. School is just about to start up, and as things are getting underway I keep seeing the Lord encouraging me and spurring me on. This year is certainly going to be a weird one, with a lot of unknowns, but some things we do know. I know that college students are hungry for community and belonging. A recent study came out showing that in the month of June around 25% of young adults seriously considered suicide. That means that 1 in 4 of the students stepping into UNT and TWU this year thought about suicide. That is wild, and incredibly sad. People are in desperate need of community, and most importantly Jesus. So I am so thankful that I get to step onto these campuses and introduce people to that this year. Thank you for letting me do this!

Another thing I know about this year is the importance of face to face interactions. Our students are just so tired of everything being online that they crave any amount of time they can get with another person in the real world. We just finished up a two day training for our student leaders, which we had in a park while wearing masks and staying distant. While it was quite the sight to see for the morning joggers, it was such an encouragement to us. These students just lit up being able to interact in person. For some this is one of the first times in months they have actually been able to see their friends. They were all so excited to learn about how they could lead this year and honestly it was a highlight of my month as well. I was able to do the talk on one on one ministry, which is my absolute favorite, so I was incredibly grateful about that too.

I think that while this year is going to keep throwing us curve balls, the Lord is going to work in huge ways. These students are bringing such passion to their campuses, and I think God is going to work wonderfully through that. I see this the most through my peer team, which are the guys I will be able to invest in the most this year. I wanted to introduce you to all of them so you can be praying for them as they go out and make disciples on campus. There's a lot this year so here we go:

This is the guy I get to lead Core with, Ryan. Yes he is that cool in person.

Sterling

Aaron

Collin

Philip

Quincy

Hunter (yes the beard is that marvelous)

Alex

Anthony

I am so pumped to spend the year with these guys. They are all eager to learn more about Jesus and go out and bless their classmates. It's going to be a good year, even if it doesn't seem like it. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:28

Prayer Requests

Darby is half-way through chemo treatment, so continued prayers for her.

Prayers for all of the new students walking on campus, that they'd be open and receptive.

Prayers for the university staff as they figure out best practices.
