A Stacked Deck

The fall semester is right around the corner, and with it comes one of the most exciting years of ministry I've seen so far. Only God knows what will end up happening this year, but it does seem like He's stacking the deck for us.

Our leader team has grown this past year, and we have around 10 more leaders than last year. They are all bright eyed and excited to get on campus and make a difference. It's amazing to see these young students step up and take on this kind of role. Sometimes I get used to it, but its a rare thing to see 19 year old students volunteer around 15hrs of their week to serve and love their community.

On top of that we get to take all of our leaders to our training conference this year, and it's right before the semester starts. SICM is always a huge deal for us and where a lot of our training takes place. It's extra special this year since we can take people who have gone before, so our whole leader team gets a refresher on small group leadership right before they start the year up.

Then once school actually starts we'll have the equivalent of two freshman classes on campus. The ones that really didn't get a normal freshman experience last year, and then one of the largest incoming freshman classes ever. On top of that we have more people who have been isolated and haven't found a place on campus to belong to than probably ever before.

We had a PowerPoint night where people could do a presentation on whatever they wanted. This girl did hers on the staff as the opposite gender and then rating them. It was hilarious.

It really seems that the Lord is preparing us for something big. My prayer is that this fall is a time where we plant unlike any other year, so that we might reap a harvest like never before in the Spring semester. With so many things on the horizon, I ask that you be praying alongside us, because ultimately it is God doing this work, and we want to make sure we are walking alongside that and not striking out on our own path.
