Exciting New Initiatives

The school year is right around the corner, and I really can’t wait to get started! We’ve got an awesome leader team made up of 38 students ready to serve and make disciples on campus this year. Thank you so much for your prayers, God has been so faithful in getting us prepared to start the school year off on the right foot.

We spend a good amount of time over the summer prepping and planning for the next year, and I wanted to share some of the things we’ve been working on that I’m excited about and want to ask y’all to join in prayer with me about.

We finally coalesced a bunch of photos from throughout the year, so here's some different snippets.

Recovery Group

This next year I plan on leading a recovery group for our ministry that will help our students overcome sexual addictions. We’re seeing that more and more freshman are stepping onto the college campus with years of sexual addiction already under their belt. The basics just aren’t cutting it to help them overcome this deep rooted sin in their lives. So we’re experimenting with having a group dedicated to helping them embrace stepping into the light and cutting this sin out. I hope that this group doesn’t only get them over their addictions, but also leads to deep spiritual and emotional growth. Be praying for this group and discernment as we try this out!

Missions

College students are some of the most recruitable, trainable and sendable people on the planet. While they are in classes over the semester we think their main mission field is where their feet are. With the students and faculty surrounding them on the college campus. While that may be true, this year we are working on streamlining a process for our students to get connected to over-seas mission orgs that can provide short and long term mission trips for them to go on over the summers and after they graduate. These students are excited about the Gospel and are at a time in their life that they tend to have the flexibility to go on trips like this, and we want to make sure we provide opportunities for them to go bring Jesus to the whole world as well as their campus. Pray that our students catch a vision for reaching the nations!

Evangelism

Evangelism has always been a large part of what we do on campus. This year we’re doing extra training for our students on how to have spiritual conversations with strangers. Oftentimes students first experience with one on one evangelism takes place at events and in their classes, but they can struggle to push through some of the awkwardness they feel moving into a more spiritual conversation. We’re hoping to really tackle that head on this year and help them grow to be more bold evangelists. Galatians 1:10 has been on my heart for our ministry this year. It says “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Join us in praying that our students would strive to please God, not those around them!
